It is with broken hearts and many tears that we have said goodbye to little Smokie.

Smokie succumbed to severe convulsions last night and crossed to the rainbow bridge.
We fought for his life since the day we rescued him and his family from that horrible shelter. It is because they do not vaccinate on intake his life was taken unnecessarily from this Earth. He would have died there but at least with us he had a chance, with Parvo and distemper he battled but his little body could not take it anymore. God bless Tammy his foster mommy for fighting for his life the entire time. Prayers for her and her family as this loss is very hard on them.

Who could not fall in love with that face? Everywhere we went, people fell in love with Smokie. What was behind that cute face, was even better. Smokie had a sweet nature yet a strong soul that, if given the chance, always made him a amazing contender no matter what he faced. He never gave up in a battle for the bone or tug of war that took place with his brothers and sister, Smokie never gave up even if the smallest and weakest. When they discovered a favorite spot by the heating vent, Smokie always got it. Whenever it was time to play in the yard, Smokie was the first to go out the door. Whenever there was a new toy, Smokie got it…….at least for alittle while. He was a fighter who never gave up.

In return, we loved Smokie like he was the most amazing gift ever. We defended him when the odds were agaisnt him and cheered him to victory no matter the battle. Literally, the whole world seemed brighter when he wagged his tail.

When I told my husband that Smokie may be sicker than we expected he said “The angels must need someone to love”.

What an amazing gift we have given to the angels.
